I remember seeing the same thing from this one southern dude. It's still a wholesome message

61

u/metalslug53 Oct 02 '22

The southern dude is Catfish Cooly and it's super hypocritical coming from him, as he's been very vocally anti-Muslim in previous videos he's posted.

The one OP posted isn't ruined by hypocrisy.

-18

u/benidiktwagner Oct 02 '22

Read the Quran and see that Islam is anti-Gay, anti-Jew, anti-Christian, anti-atheist

23

u/Abyssal_Groot Oct 02 '22

Read the bible and you realise it is anti-Gay, anti-Jew, anti-Muslim and anti-atheist

4

u/PrettyStupidSo Oct 02 '22

I'll take things that are not mutually exclusive for $500 please

-2

u/benidiktwagner Oct 02 '22

... didn't say that bible wasn't. What is your point? Your statement is a straw man statement, this sort of reasoning is a fallacy of relevance: it fails to address the proposition in question by misrepresenting the opposing position. Person 1 asserts the Quran is anti-Gay. Person 2's rebuttal is so is the Bible. This response doesn't address the first statement.

3

u/Perfect-Virus8415 Oct 02 '22

Homie you made a strawman every religion is guilty of all those sins only difference is how old other religions are

2

u/miskaM7 Oct 02 '22

Flexing what you learned in Critical Thinking 1004 today eh?

Didn’t the Bible say love thy neighbor

3

u/Abyssal_Groot Oct 02 '22

It also says stuff about heretics

5

u/Dragon-spider21 Oct 02 '22

And how women should be silent…

I am a christian but I think not all of the Bible is a hundred percent accurate

3

u/name4231 Oct 02 '22

I also consider myself to be Christian. It’s hard to look at the bible with 100% legitimatacy when a lot of its content is most likely corrupt political or prejudice thoughts of the day being worked into the latest translation. With the corruption our world has seen it’s near impossible that it hasn’t worked itself into the church at some point to influence our beliefs and values

1

u/stephenp129 Oct 02 '22

The Bible says a lot of terrible things. Let's look at one of my favourites.

  1. Elisha and the Two Bears (2 Kings 2:23-25)

Introduction

23 Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up by the way, young lads came out from the city and mocked him and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead; go up, you baldhead!” 24 When he looked behind him and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two female bears came out of the woods and tore up forty-two lads of their number. 25 And he went from there to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.

Why dont we all just read books that are 1000’s of years old and use those to guide our behavior?! Oh yea, because thats dumb as hell

14

u/InvalidUserNemo Oct 02 '22

12

u/FatBrownMan_ Oct 02 '22

This is so wholesome.. thank you for finding this. ❤️

3

u/joshingly_consider Oct 02 '22

truth to be told thanks. good vibes too ❤️❤️❤️

2

u/Ethant01 Oct 02 '22

wholesome except he is racist

That's okay.. wish I could refill you with some of mine.. have a virtual hug. 🤗

1

u/hfff638 Oct 02 '22

i fucking rusted

204

u/Gainsborough-Smythe Oct 01 '22

"A candle loses nothing by lighting another."

36

u/FatBrownMan_ Oct 01 '22

That's a beautiful quote. ❤️

-19

u/NoLibrary2034 Oct 02 '22

Only if there is enough oxygen for 2 candles. Otherwise they die both

11

u/Logan18880 Oct 02 '22

Dude

7

u/NoLibrary2034 Oct 02 '22

Yeah the reality is harsh.

1

u/otirk Oct 02 '22

If there is not enough oxygen for both candles, one will have a hard time as well and in the end it will perish nonetheless.

1

u/NoLibrary2034 Oct 03 '22

And thats the time where giving isnt realy an option

70

u/NyelloNandee Oct 01 '22

Never let anyone trick you into believing that kindness is difficult. It is so easy to be kind.

19

u/FatBrownMan_ Oct 01 '22

Wow. That's absolutely true. We thrive as human beings when we are kind to each other. ❤️

3

u/Logan18880 Oct 02 '22

Honestly sometimes I feel like people need to be reminded of this, and it’s sad. Too easy to be an asshole for some people nowadays :(

3

u/FatherOfLights88 Oct 02 '22

For real!

All these people walking around as if being kind is some impossible task requiring the effort of moving a mountain. So, they're needlessly rude and poorly mannered. It makes no sense to me. I don't have to go to great personal lengths to be warm. It just happens.

1

u/BBQjesus711 Oct 02 '22

You could even say it's selfish to be kind. Bc it helps you as a person. Makes you feel better for sure. Selfish in a different way but it's making you a better person everytime!

11

u/Latter_Bluejay_2120 Oct 01 '22

This is totally true, life can be very stressful but if we have people to help us push through it we can accomplish anything

8

u/FatBrownMan_ Oct 01 '22

I agree 100%. Have had some difficult times in life and if not for the people around me it would have been hundred times more difficult.

36

u/StillGalaxy99 Oct 01 '22

This is maybe the fourth different person who has done the EXACT same thing.

19

u/FatBrownMan_ Oct 01 '22

I saw it for the first time. So I guess the more people make it the more the message spreads. It's a wholesome video.. ❤️

4

u/StillGalaxy99 Oct 01 '22

Wholesome yes, but I'm betting this guy just made this for likes

23

u/FatBrownMan_ Oct 01 '22

There's nothing wrong with that! The message still spreads. Content creators can create content for whatever reasons but the consumers like us need to decide if they are worthy of sharing or watching. And I for one feel it was worthy of sharing and spreading to others as it's going to spread only good vibes.

14

u/graitfl Oct 01 '22

I hope it gets shown over and over so beautifully done everyone should be blessed with this message💞

10

u/FatBrownMan_ Oct 01 '22

Exactly. Beautiful message. I was blessed to have seen this today.

12

u/LilLobster01 Oct 01 '22

It doesn’t matter because he’s still spreading a positive message. To think that it’s been reposted that many times is probably a good thing

1

u/the_cannoli Oct 01 '22

Really embracing the message here, good thing you know his story. Are you also envious of OP for posting it for likes too? Maybe some comments to Make People Smile instead while you are here?

Love this 💜

3

u/BBQjesus711 Oct 02 '22

My favorite word in the English language is

Sonder- The profound feeling of realizing that everyone, including strangers passing in the street, has a life as complex as one's own, which they are constantly living despite one's personal lack of awareness of it.

You never know what anyone else has gone through.

3

u/neelabhkhatri Oct 02 '22

Light people on fire.

3

u/Psilocybenaudiophile Oct 02 '22

How many people gonna copy this for attention?!?

3

u/No-Plastic-7715 Oct 02 '22

And this is why I'll hear everyone out on everything, even though my own life is falling apart. It's something I have energy for

Well get nowhere if we refuse to uplift each other

3

u/Luisian321 Oct 02 '22

Meanwhile this guy was just trying to make an educational video on how lighters work…

11

u/FatBrownMan_ Oct 01 '22

Help someone reignite their flame today. ❤️

2

u/ikemaster45 Oct 01 '22

FINALLY I needed someone to help me light this gas! I've been trying to commit arson all day man 🙄

3

u/FatBrownMan_ Oct 01 '22

May be try your arse which looks like it's on fire anyway.

5

u/No_Ferret_5441 Oct 01 '22

I keep trying to explain this to people that I'm just messed up and it's finally taken its toll I got nothing left to give except not ending it so my family don't have to deal with the aftermath ain't no help reigniting my spark. I used to think I was depressed when I was younger and now I laugh at my younger self thinking you idiot you had your whole life ahead of you and all you had to do was work at it and earn everything you want in life. Trust me young people you have so much to live for enjoy life to the fullest while you can and accept the help, older people have wisdom from mistakes you might not have to make if you listen.

Too bad my friends are as fucked as me lol

2

u/Just-a-PB Oct 01 '22

So many slime bags that take advantage of your kindness.

I have been burned many times being kind to others, it makes you into a colder less caring person.

1

u/Ok_Effective6233 Oct 01 '22

Have you been burned all of the times? I hope not.

I’ve always thought that the cheapest way to learn who your friends are is to loan them money.

2

u/Jackhulk Oct 01 '22

A lovely message, although now 'Take That - Relight my FIRE' is playing in my head. Grrr.

2

u/National-phantom_ Oct 02 '22

U FORGOT DEPRESSION AND SUICIDAL THOUGHTS

2

u/K0SMARAS Oct 02 '22

That's wholesome as fuck

2

u/Big_Set8256 Oct 02 '22

What a clear, doable and wise philosophy. Just to have that one mental box to check each day — just once every 24 hours — that you helped someone only to be kind.

I saw a post on here the other day about a Dad who, instead of asking his son what happened in school that day, he would ask: Did you help anyone today? It was a great conversation starter and just seemed a nice way to orient a child’s sense of themselves. Thank you for this video.

2

u/squashwithjosh Oct 02 '22

Im a huge advocate that humans are resilient creatures but when life is being unfair, a push in the right direction can help us burn even brighter

2

u/Jumpinjackjumanji Oct 02 '22

Excellent depiction of community, thank you for this

2

u/According_Curve Oct 02 '22

As someone whose life was saved by a small kindness, they ultimately benefitted too. I am now fine and the only babysitter they trust for their one year old. I too am returning the favor by helping a homeless woman in the ER. Believe in yourself and your service to others.

2

u/-ballerinanextlife Oct 02 '22

How many times wil this be remade

2

u/Dragomirl Oct 02 '22

This is so overdone, I have seen at least 5 videos exactly like this performed by different people, its wholesome but not if a thousand people do it for views, look at that forced smile at the end

2

u/Melly-Mang Oct 02 '22

Call me a boomer, buy I love the original, where one actually talks, the camera is crappy and straight up advice he learned through life instead of this trend crap

1

u/newtoreddir Oct 02 '22

How do you know what you saw was the original? This concept has been around pretty much since these lighters were invented. No one owns it.

2

u/Ok_Promise_1797 Oct 02 '22

"Help someone today" Me on my way to grab a knife: I will rest you... From your pain...

2

u/ItsAThrowAwayAcDuhhh Oct 02 '22

I lost my spark long ago

2

u/colegullison1 Oct 02 '22

But we aren’t lighters

2

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '22

PTSD

2

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '22

Moral of the story: Beavis & Butthead will undo all your trauma.

2

u/YouBeTheGuide Oct 02 '22

Why do people keep making the exact same video? Lack of creativity? Time to waste? Smh

2

u/Negative_Push_1547 Oct 02 '22

Yessss always!!!! I may get hurt Doing so but I know I made a difference for someone else and I hopes they do the same for someone else!! Cause one action or smoke might change someone’s day or overall outlook on peoples!! 🥹🙈🥰❤️💓 we need more loves!

2

u/nate-the__great Oct 02 '22

So the message is, if you love something, set it in fire.

This is a Bob's Burger callback.

2

u/Ok-Image6077 Oct 02 '22

Hang in there believe me is all worth it

2

u/AMessofpurple Oct 02 '22

This made me cry. This is exactly how I feel. Hope to get my spark back soon though.

3

u/Prestigious_Oven7061 Oct 01 '22

The message I got from this was, if I drop my lighter in a puddle, I can still use it.

3

u/FatBrownMan_ Oct 01 '22

Yes. But only if you have another working lighter. Or a matchbox. That's the message.

2

u/DaMangIemert Oct 01 '22

This the remix or the original?

2

u/RevolutionaryCow7771 Oct 02 '22

This is like the 100th time i see a different dude making this dumb video

2

u/jrc83 Oct 02 '22

Made me tear up. Beautiful message. I will be kinder.

2

u/jabeith Oct 02 '22

I get the message, but a wet flint still makes a spark. Just in case anyone out there is lost in the wilderness and doesn't try to make a fire because their flint is wet

1

u/OlivieMilla Oct 02 '22

You can see him pressing reeeeally slowly to not make a spark and turn the fire on. The message is beautiful, but he clearly didnt even give a chance to the traumatized lighter to light themselves up.

3

u/Otherwise_Invite1569 Oct 01 '22

Garbage content

3

u/FatBrownMan_ Oct 01 '22

That's okay my man.. find content that makes you feel happy. ❤️

0

u/galacticfederation- Oct 01 '22

Nobody wants this

0

u/kellerrrrr Oct 02 '22

I feel like this promotes codependency

6

u/kathelim Oct 02 '22

Getting a little help is not codependency.

1

u/bigmossy08 Oct 02 '22

This sub makes me not smile so to the same stuff being repeated over and over again. All about the clicks these days!!

1

u/Aettoo Oct 02 '22

So original..

0

u/Flaky-Wallaby5382 Oct 01 '22

My issue is when your cup finally does get full. People with full trauma cups have nothing to give.

Its a one way relationship and avoid them as long term friends. But helping or being there short term yes

0

u/LostImpi Oct 02 '22

This is so lame

1

u/S_Alexander_ Oct 02 '22

What if others around you are not lighters but only blowers which push put the fire

2

u/bosstg1 Oct 02 '22

Find different “others” when I didn’t. I found help.

1

u/facelesstoo1 Oct 02 '22

Is this with Tibetan meditation practice also? Swear just seen dark propehecies with one flame theory

1

We all need help now and then.

1

u/Zennostic Oct 02 '22

Made me smile and choke up a little.

1

u/TheDeafGuy8 Oct 02 '22

You can also dry it by rubbing a specific part (the flint), take that how you will

1

u/chuckitinthefucket Oct 02 '22

Redneck did it better.

1

u/Mellozi Oct 02 '22

Beautiful way to normalize asking for help and offering kindness to those in need!

1

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '22

Really nice msg

1

u/BagofEndlessHugs Oct 02 '22

When someone is struggling, light them on fire... with burning passion and kindness. Just making a joke. Video has a great message.

1

u/Commie_EntSniper Oct 02 '22

That we could all remember this all the time.

1

u/NoLibrary2034 Oct 02 '22

The hillbilly version with the lighter that "slept in cold outside" was way way better then this copied sh*t. Sad but true

1

u/raughing Oct 02 '22

I've got no gas left and a crack on my container

1

u/MommaBearfor2 Oct 02 '22

100 % amazing and oh so very true. Thank you for taking the time to share this. A person can appear to be so happy on the outside and be ever so damaged on the inside.

1

u/Conscious-Freedom677 Oct 02 '22

What a waste of water

1

u/cheffyjayp Oct 02 '22

No matter how bad things get we are all still full of gas.

1

u/SirBeardsAlot91 Oct 02 '22

Love this video. Simple yet effective and emotionally resonant. Life moves so fucking fast sometimes that we inevitably lose our patience and temper. We don't always mean to lash out at folks, but we say things we don't mean and burn bridges with people all too often. Patience, compassion and kindness are essential for folks struggling with a history of abuse and/or mental suffering. I honestly believe it can save lives sometimes. I don't claim to know what it's like to be a survivor of horrible abuse, but everyone has their own demons and hardships in life. Your experience is valid and you matter. Our minds can be our own worst enemy and sabotage us in trying times. I've been suffering from bipolar depression for years now and have lost count of the number of times I've thought about ending my life. And some folks dealing with these hardships try to remain stoic or put on a happy face because they don't want to put that burden on people (I knew someone like this who ended up taking her life). It breaks my heart. NEVER assume you know what someone is going through. What looks like calmness and composure on the outside may be desperation and pain.

1

u/McChicken8675309 Oct 02 '22

Lesson of the day: don't drop your lighter in water or you'll need to buy another lighter to make it work again

1

u/ptrang1987 Oct 02 '22

Damn I needed this. Thank you

1

u/ptrang1987 Oct 02 '22

I needed this. Thank you

1

u/fkcingkys Oct 02 '22

I don't like other people

1

u/shidored Oct 02 '22

Moral of the story. You always have fire if you have a buddy to fart with

1

u/Present-Difficulty-6 Oct 02 '22

We just need... A billion dollars

1

u/CrgTylr Oct 02 '22

This is brilliant, thank you.

1

u/Bubashii Oct 02 '22

Good message but I don’t think there needs to be hundreds of versions of it

1

Too bad, Im from the Philippines

1

u/Extra-Illustrator293 Oct 02 '22

I will say the same emotions mentioned in this video, are the same emotions the system everyone abide by makes you feel. My advice would be to not go to that same system for help!

1

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '22

That's a wholesome message

1

u/Intelligent_Two_5822 Oct 02 '22

Awesome video dude

1

u/liveingratitude Oct 02 '22

And sometimes when you wanna help someone with all that trauma they pull you in to that ocean they are swimming in without a life jacket

1

u/Kinuwa_K Oct 02 '22

But wat if the other one was also submerged in water 😔😔

1

u/CrabPile Oct 02 '22

Checks out, I have trauma and I am full of gas and I'm a human

1

u/Ammysnatcher Oct 02 '22

Fun fact if you have a bic and it gets wet you can run the flint down your leg, the heat will dry the lighter. I can relight any wet bic in a few seconds

Sometimes you gotta know how to make the lighter spark by yourself

1

u/James4theP Oct 02 '22

That dude stole it from someone.

1

u/Perfectfish1972 Oct 02 '22

There are millions of other species that need help BEACAUSE of humans. humans have enslaved every other species for their own benefit. All those issues listed are meaningless to the millions of species we dominate. There are species that are millions of years older than humans and they’ve had their land taken by humans, and now humans fight each other over land they don’t rightfully own based o our own standards. Humans are demons through the eyes of other Earth inhabitants.

1

u/Mariospurs Oct 02 '22

CONTRIVED

1

u/IAmCarsAndTrees Oct 02 '22

This really hits home for me. My girlfriend and I just split a few days ago. It was a mutual decision and completely amicable. We came to that decision after having a really tough conversation regarding how the trauma from her past that she has bottled up and never properly addressed was affecting our relationship, as well as affecting her personal growth and ability to get to a place where she can truly love herself. We both deeply love and care for each other, but both realized that for her to heal, grow, and become the best version of herself, we could not be together anymore. It has been hard, but I know that she has an incredible support system of amazing & kind close friends that will comfort her, build her up, and help her through this hard journey she has to go on now that I cannot do that for her anymore. Be kind to everyone, no matter what. You never know what people are going or have gone through.

1

u/IncognitoDio Oct 02 '22

How many times will this be repeated. Its been months now

1

u/googang1224 Oct 02 '22

HEY YOU COPIED THAT FAT HILL BILLY

1

u/Uninvited_Goose Oct 02 '22

Man stole this from a redneck daddy

1

u/soldieroscar Oct 02 '22

Awww let me try to get close to this lighter… wtf its taking me into the water hheeeelpppppp

1

u/Party-Emu-0230 Oct 02 '22

this is nice

1

u/UtahUtopia Oct 02 '22

Or buy a bic

1

u/ThatMelonKid Oct 02 '22

I literally just did that and I’m proud

1

u/FireEm_101 Oct 02 '22

That’s cool and all but what if both lighters are fucked up?

1

u/Buttered_Dog Oct 02 '22

Not to ruin the happy mood every is in now, but I don't think it is too common for "childhood trauma" and "abuse" to take place in homes now. These people now do barely anything and say they are stressed -and that is fine being stressed - but a lot of the time it isn't for an actual reason.

1

u/hthai Oct 02 '22

Well done and kindly presented.

1

u/SailAdditional8141 Oct 02 '22

This sucks lmao
