Holy shit I had one of these. Looked ok. The blades were too short and they fell off with the slightest touch. Luke's lightsaber was sturdier and played sound effects on contact.

Ah. That’s good to keep in mind I’ll try to be gentle with this

Still have mine. It's been more solid than the other sabers. No cracking of the blades.

That’s awesome. Hopefully this one holds up just as well as yours

Same. And tested it a few weeks ago and some sound came out so replaced batteries but then nothing 😞 but it's still the coolest star wars piece I have

When I was a kid we had a jedi council in the neighborhood. My brother was the leader and he always wanted this saber. We couldn't find it in the store so he got 2 of Qui-Gon's Lightsabers and taped them together.

Lol, taping them together isn’t the worst idea. Not the best easier, I wonder how well the tape held up.

I have one of these. In 2005 I dropped it and it broke in two pieces, one slightly bigger than the other. My dad helped me make caps for both ends using spray paint can caps that we painted silver. Sadly the lights never worked again and the blades were super loose.

Years later, in the Clone Wars we see that Maul gets the shorter portion of his double saber from Savage, which matched my broken one perfectly!

Dang, you had it before it even existed. Foreshadowing?

Yes! When it first aired I was so excited and felt like my broken saber caused it to happen.

That’s awesome

Had the exact same one, if this is the kind you can unscrew the end to take the red out. That's how I made mine single for fair fights against others.

2

u/The-Techcave Oct 01 '22

I didn’t know you could take those out. Awesome feature though. Thanks for telling me that

Yeah, I remember I had Maul, Kenobi, and I think Anakin? But you could only unscrew Maul's if I remember right. Don't have them anymore, but I do have Mace's master replica. Pretty good for a girl. 😄

That’s sounds like it was an awesome collection. At the moment the only have 2 like basic non specific sabers I got off Amazon and this maul saber I got today

I'm pretty sure Hasbro released this saber a couple times. I got one in 2006 or 2007, and it has 1999 on it as well, as I recall.

1

u/The-Techcave Oct 02 '22

Ah. Well, guess I’ll never know if it’s actually from 1999

I still have mine from 1999 with the box, also in working condition. Me and my kids play with it and others from that era I have.

I had one really similar to this! Unfortunately it went the way of the film's version when a friend and I were acting out that scene.

I had one of these, I got it for making honor roll in the 5th grade(age I was when the movie came out). It had a lot of disadvantages as a toy as it extended to 4 or 5 feet so as a kid I was constantly knocking shit over or hitting walls with it. Additionally it didn’t light up but flickered on impact which was a bummer.

Man that brings me back. For Halloween I was Darth Maul back in 99 when I was 8 years old, had that lightsaber and the whole outfit. More accurately I was Darth Maul in a coat cause I lived in Colorado and it got cold but still.

I have one. I bought it with pocket money in 2000. Since then, it has broken down a couple of times, but I have soldered all the wiring back. Alas, the system that was responsible for the sound of the impact is no longer working normally. It may work when I just hold the sword in the air and vice versa, it may not work when I hit something with the saber.

Oh man, they made figures for Requiem for a Dream? Did Jennifer Connelly approve it?

3

u/The-Techcave Oct 01 '22

What? I don’t know if that’s a joke from that movie or something like that I haven’t watched that

Swing and a miss..

2

u/The-Techcave Oct 01 '22

Sorry. I really just didn’t get it. Could you explain?

2

u/MaXimus421 Ahsoka Tano Oct 01 '22

Oh I don't get it either lol. Pretty awful attempt at humor imo.

Did she approve in the film?
