Tried recreating part of the Obi-wan vs Anakin duel. Somehow didn't accidentally smash any fingers while practicing Fun

Can I do that via the Reddit app?

I don't know how to do it on a web browser either. Space magic!

I've never fully understood that extra little but of saber flourishing towards the end their. Were they actively trying to confuse each other and guess their opponent's next move, or were they just emoting on one another.

It was poorly executed but the idea was that they knew each other so well that they were both reacting to moves that the other was going to throw out resulting in them defending moves that never came.

Like when you keep doing the same thing as your opponent in rock paper scissors!

Or when you approach someone walking the opposite way and you both move the same way trying to get out of the way.

Your subsequent move to get out of the way a second time results in you both being in the way again.

Now you're dancing.

And most of the lightsaber swings seem to aiming for where the other lightsaber is going to hit

We can assume that at least for these two it's obvious due knowing each other sword styles perfectly.

Yea that would've hit so much harder if every duel wasn't like this.

Shad Brooks (Shadiversity) did an analysis of the RotS Saber fight and he was quite impressed by it.

He was... somewhat underwhelmed by the Ep8 lightsaber fight, though.

I was honestly spoiled by Corridor videos about sabers because I clearly see noone is trying to hit opponent, just to hit saber

Anyway it looks good, for some dynamics try to implement also leg movement.

Many longtime fans noticed that all the back to 1999, but if you really are big ibto cinema or theater coreography, you'll see virtually everyone does it.

And it's fine. Star Wars (and cinema) is usually about entertainment, not realism.

I agree, target is to be looking good, not technically correct

If I want realism I'll turn off the TV and step outside. I watch SW because it looks fucking sick and makes me feel something special.

I mean, nobody really knows what a sword fight with two precogs would look like.

Use gloves not to. Nice duel!

What brand of sabers are those?! I've always been deathly afraid of buying them and then breaking because this will be the first thing I do

2

u/Nice_king1 Oct 02 '22

The red one is from sabertrio and the blue one is an LGT saber. As long as you get heavy-duty blades then you'll be ok. I've had a standard blade break on me but its relatively cheap to replace blades if its not neopixel

Awesome y'all. I wish I could get my friends to do this with me.

Biggest complaint about the obi vs anakin fight was both sabers were blue and hard to follow in several segments

Nice spins

It's a good trick!

u/MightyGonzou Oct 03 '22

Im surprised these sabers don't break. Which ones are you using?
